It is woven from spun wool yarns and is characterized by its plain weave, which consists of uneven nap yarns contrasting with the ground color. Originally woven exclusively by hand, it is now mostly machine woven, and has been since the introduction of mechanized looms in the 1950s to 1960s. The fabric of our Donegal jacket is woven exclusively for us in Dongeal Ireland. The brownish base tone with the donegal color splashes makes for a unique and vibrant fabric, which is versatile to combine.
